SYNERGIES: SUSTAINABLE GROWTH IN THE MARINE AND MARITIME SECTORS OF SLOVENIA IN THE NORTHERN ADRIATIC - BLUEMED MEETING ON A MICRO-REGIONAL LEVEL

The Ministry of Education Science and Sport (MIZŠ), the Marine Biology Station Piran of the National Institute of Biology (NIB MBP), the Directorate General of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (DG JRC), European Academies' Science Advisory Council (EASAC) and Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU) are organising an event within the Bluemed initiative. It aims at creating synergies between different European, regional and national policies and instruments in the field of marine and coastal areas. At the event the JRC-EASAC report "Marine sustainability and an age of changing oceans and seas" will be presented.

The event intends to integrate the stakeholders for fostering synergies for sustainable development and blue growth of marine and coastal part of the Northern Adriatic micro-region.

The first day will be devoted to the presentation of European, regional and national strategies, directives and instruments in the field and participants discussions on the challenges and activities for joint planning and implementation of national and micro-regional priorities.

The morning of the second day will be devoted to the presentation of synergies that can be created between different instruments,  presentation of the JRC EASAC report "Marine sustainability and an age of changing oceans and seas" and to the presentation of JRC activities in the search for synergies between different policies and instruments at sea and coast.

The afternoon of the second day will be devoted to a meeting of national stakeholders to establish cooperation in priority areas through four national and Mediterranean Bluemed platforms:
1.    Knowledge: »Knowledge of Mediterranean sea dynamics and ecosystems«,
2.    Economy: »Economic sectors of blue growth economy in the Mediterranean«,
3.    Technologies: »Enabling technologies for blue growth in the Mediterranean«,
4.    Politics: »Science to policy for blue growth«.
